Nick Fuentes Banned From Turning Point Event Gives Speech Promoting America First In Response
The America First Foundation held an impromptu protest in Detroit, MI. on June 15, 2024.
The America First Foundation’s (AFPAC IV) annual event was to take place in Detroit, MI., on Saturday, June 15, 2024. At the same time, Turning Point Action (TPUSA) hosted The People’s Convention featuring many high-profile speakers and breakout sessions to educate the public, held in the same general location as AFPAC, June 14-16, 2024, at the Huntington Place Convention Center.
On Friday, June 14, Nick Fuentes, President of the America First Foundation (AF), tried to attend The People’s Convention but was not allowed admittance and was asked to leave the premises.
That same day, the owner of the Russell Industrial Center gave notice that AFPAC IV would not take place at the location, police were called, and union workers employed by America First Foundation had very little time to take down the vast amounts of equipment recently setup before they would be trespassed from the building.
Rise of the Groypers
Saturday, June 15, while this reporter was enjoying a refreshing beverage outside the historic Fort Pontchartrain Hotel across the street from where the TPUSA event was being held. A stream of America First members donning blue hats with white letters reading ‘America First’ passed by and headed into downtown Detroit with one person in tow, live streaming and videoing the well-dressed column of young men and women.
A few hours later, the company returned to the corner of Washington Blvd. and W. Jefferson Ave., staging an impromptu protest consisting of numerous stump speeches by members of AF across the street from the convention center.
During the speeches, the crowd shouted, Christ is King, Groyper, down with Israel, America First, and we want Nick (for Fuentes). It was a compelling, emotional moment for some in attendance, visibly crying or tears-swelling during chants.
A twenty-minute Rosary prayer took place shortly before Nick Fuentes arrived.
The Mussolini speech
The crowd surged to around five hundred people chanting Nick as Fuentes took stairs to a raised platform overlooking those in attendance and the convention center in the background at Fort Pontchartrain Hotel.
Highlights from the thirty-plus-minute speech
Fuentes mention of the late Henry Ford, his importance to Detroit, Michigan, and America First
During the AF live stream on June 16, 2024, Fuentes mentioned the presentation was his Mussolini speech, referencing Benito Mussolini, the Italian politician who led the National Fascist Party.
He claimed that AFPAC IV would be rescheduled for later in the year and that every effort would be made to refund people for the tickets purchased to attend the event.
